Privacy Policy

Effective date: September 14, 2026

Last updated: 14-09-2026

Who we are

Electrify Australia is a coalition of consumer, business, civil society and research groups. Energy Consumers Australia, The Energy Efficiency Council and Rewiring Australia are responsible for this website and for the personal information collected through it.

In this policy, "we", "us" and "our" mean Electrify Australia. "You" means anyone who visits electrifyaustralia.org.au or contacts us through it.

You can reach us at contact@electrifyaustralia.org.au.

What this policy covers

This policy explains what personal information we collect through electrifyaustralia.org.au, why we collect it, who we share it with, and how you can access, correct or remove it.

It applies to this website only. Where we link to another organisation's website, that organisation's own privacy policy applies.

We handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth). We are not required to comply with the Privacy Act because of the small business exemption, but we have chosen to follow the Australian Privacy Principles as a matter of good practice.

What we collect, and when

When you add your organisation to the campaign or contact us

The form on our open letter page asks for:

  • your organisation's name
  • your organisation's website address
  • your name
  • your email address
  • your message

You may also send us a logo file by email.

When you visit the website

We collect information about how the site is used, through the tools described in the "Analytics and cookies" section below. This includes pages viewed, approximate location based on IP address, the device and browser used, how you arrived at the site, and how long you stayed. In most cases this information does not identify you personally, but it may be personal information when combined with other information.

Our hosting provider also keeps standard server logs, which include IP addresses and the time of each request.

We do not collect sensitive information. We do not ask for, and you should not send us, information about your health, racial or ethnic origin, political opinions or affiliations, religious beliefs, sexual orientation, or criminal record. We do not collect payment details through this website.

Publication of signatories

This is the most important thing to understand before you submit the form.

If your organisation joins the campaign, we publish your organisation's name and logo on this website on the open letter page and elsewhere on the site, alongside the other signatory organisations. That information is public, will be visible to anyone, and may be copied, indexed by search engines, quoted in media coverage, or referred to in our advocacy and communications.

We do not publish the name or email address of the individual who submitted the form. We may use that individual's contact details to verify the submission and to keep the organisation informed about the campaign.

If you want your organisation removed from the published list at any time, email us at contact@electrifyaustralia.org.au and we will remove it from the website. We cannot recall copies that others have already made.

Why we collect it

We collect and use personal information to:

  • verify and publish the list of organisations supporting the open letter
  • contact you about your submission, including to confirm details or request a logo
  • respond to enquiries about collaboration or media
  • keep supporting organisations informed about the campaign
  • understand how people use the website so we can improve it
  • meet our legal and record-keeping obligations

We will not use your information for a purpose unrelated to these without telling you first, or without your consent where consent is required.

Analytics and cookies

Google Analytics 4. We use Google Analytics 4 to understand how visitors find and use this website. It sets cookies in your browser and collects information about your visit, including pages viewed, time on page, approximate location derived from your IP address, device type and referral source. This information is processed by Google LLC and may be stored on servers outside Australia, including in the United States. Google's own privacy policy governs how it handles that data: https://policies.google.com/privacy

You can opt out of Google Analytics entirely by installing Google's browser opt-out add-on at https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout, or by blocking or deleting cookies in your browser settings. The website will still work normally if you do.

Google Search Console. We also use Google Search Console. This tool reports, in aggregate, which Google search terms brought people to this site and how the site performs in search results. It does not set cookies on this website and does not track individual visitors or their behaviour on the site. We have listed it here for transparency rather than because it collects personal information from you.

Other cookies. Our website platform sets a small number of cookies necessary for the site to function. We do not use advertising or remarketing cookies, and we do not sell or share information about you with advertisers.

Where your information is stored

This website is built and hosted on Webflow, a platform operated by Webflow, Inc. in the United States. Form submissions are stored on Webflow's systems, and analytics data is processed by Google LLC. This means your personal information may be stored and processed outside Australia.

By submitting the form you acknowledge that your information will be handled in this way. We take reasonable steps to work with providers that offer appropriate protection, but overseas recipients may not be subject to Australian privacy law.

Who we share it with

We do not sell personal information, and we do not disclose it to third parties for their own marketing.

We share personal information only with:

  • the service providers named above, which host our website and provide analytics, and only so they can provide those services
  • anyone else where you have asked or agreed that we do so, or where we are required or authorised by law

How long we keep it

We keep form submissions for as long as the campaign is active, so we have a record of who supported the open letter. Analytics data is retained according to the setting in our Google Analytics account, currently 14 months.

If you ask us to delete your information and we are not required to keep it, we will do so.

Accessing, correcting or removing your information

You can ask us at any time to:

  • tell you what personal information we hold about you
  • correct anything that is wrong or out of date
  • remove your organisation from the published signatory list
  • delete your personal information

Email contact@electrifyaustralia.org.au. We will respond within a reasonable period, usually 30 days. There is no charge for making a request. If we cannot do what you have asked, we will explain why in writing.

Keeping information secure

We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, loss, and unauthorised access or disclosure, including using reputable platforms and limiting who can see form submissions. No website or online service can be completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

If a data breach occurs that is likely to cause serious harm, we will notify affected people and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner as required.

Complaints

If you think we have mishandled your personal information, email contact@electrifyaustralia.org.au with the details. We will investigate and respond in writing, usually within 30 days.

If you are not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at www.oaic.gov.au, by phone on 1300 363 992, or by writing to GPO Box 5218, Sydney NSW 2001.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The current version is always on this page, with the date it was last updated at the top. If we make a significant change to how we handle personal information, we will say so on this page.
